Run the Course Set Before You
A Sermon Inspired by Phillip Scott, Ninja Warrior Champion 2025
Ninja Warriors! It’s not just a show—it’s a metaphor for life. There’s balance, agility, unpredictable challenges, and the ever-present possibility of falling into the water. But the biggest lesson? It’s not about brute strength—it’s about resilience, focus, suppo
The power of vision. Every spiritual journey begins with a willingness to see beyond our current limitations. Like scripture says in Hebrews 12:1: “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
In life, we need a team. We need those who believe in us, who remind us who we are when we forget, who stand on the sidelines yelling, “You’ve got this!”
Church, ministry, work, life isn’t just about beliefs. It’s about community. We’re here to become each other’s scaffolding. To climb together. Pray together. Fall and get back up—together. Spiritually, this is our path, too. You will fall. You’ll lose your temper. Doubt your worth. Want to give up. But grace says: “Fall seven times, stand up eight.” Grit and Grace.
You don’t need to run a ninja course to be wholehearted. You just need to live with full presence.
- Do your work like it matters—because it does.
- Pray, sing, serve, grieve, laugh—wholeheartedly.
Half-hearted living is a spiritual ache. The world needs your whole you. And God, Spirit, Love, Universe—whatever you call It—is already cheering you on. Eternally and infinitely.
