Cultivating Joy
One of the great teachers of cultivating joy was the co-founder of Unity, Myrtle Fillmore. When Myrtle began her spiritual journey, she was not strong and vibrant. She struggled with illness and physical challenges. Instead of surrendering to discouragement, she began a daily spiritual practice. What will you do to cultivate joy as a spiritual practice? Here’s some ideas.
10 Practical Ways to Cultivate Joy Daily
- Begin each day with three expressions of gratitude.
- Bless and appreciate your body with loving thoughts and care.
- Interrupt negative thinking and replace it with affirming truth statements.
- Intentionally seek beauty in nature, people, and everyday moments.
- Laugh often and keep a lighthearted perspective.
- Take sacred pauses during the day to breathe, center, and reconnect spiritually.
- Serve or encourage someone through a simple act of kindness.
- Speak life-giving words that uplift and encourage others.
- Release what you cannot control through prayer, surrender, or trust.
- Celebrate small wins and moments of progress throughout the day.
