Forgiveness as Freedom
South African Archbishop and author Desmond Tutu, who lived forgiveness in the aftermath of apartheid, wrote:
“Without forgiveness, there is no future.”
Unforgiveness locks us into yesterday. Forgiveness opens the door to tomorrow.
When we forgive, we reclaim:
- Our energy
- Our creativity
- Our emotional availability
- Our spiritual authority
Forgiveness restores us to the present moment—where life actually happens. Forgiveness is not forgetting.
Forgiveness is freedom.
Forgiveness is one of the ways that freedom becomes lived reality.
- May we lay down what is heavy.
- May we release what no longer serves.
- May we choose freedom over resentment.
And may our hearts know the peace that comes when love is no longer blocked.
Forgiveness is not forgetting.
Forgiveness is freedom.
